Still Lit Dia De Los Muertos

In El Camposanto, the living have not forgotten him.

He holds cempasúchil in his hand, a gift from the living. Cempasúchil is life to the dead, and his life is the flames in his eyes. As long as he is remembered, they stay lit.

He is a gentleman, and he dresses like one. His best vest, his long sleeves, and his tall top hat, worn for the ones who still remember him.

Part of Dia De Los Muertos by Lupe Flores, a series of original miniature paintings on wood inspired by the traditions of remembering and honoring those who came before us.
